Some of the things you will like, and not like,
about a home wedding are:
Usually a home wedding is free, as far as the venue is concerned.
A home wedding is usually more relaxed and there are no restrictions on bringing in your own food or spirits. And there's always a bedroom for the bride and groom to dress in.
With a wedding in your yard, pot-luck dinners for the reception
are a great, easy way to to feed your guests. And if you use
paper plates and plastic utensils... the clean up is easy.
Of course, the down side is you will need to rent tables and
chairs if your wedding is of any great size.
And if the house is small, and if it rains, you might have to rent a tent.
No one in your family knows how to cook? Well, then
you might go and hire a caterer.
And with these things... you might end up spending the same
amount that a wedding banquet center might have charged...
and you end up doing all the work as well.
So.... the word (or words) for home weddings are... keep it simple.
Have people stand during the ceremony. Use lawn chairs
and whatever else you can find for people to set on. And let them
set their food on their laps.
And don't worry about trying to impress anyone...
a home wedding is about friends and family.
