Confidential and Public marriage licenses can be obtained from any county in Los Angeles.
There is no difference between the licenses in regards to the marriage.
The requirements for both types of license are:
1. THE COUPLE MUST APPEAR TOGETHER WHEN APPLYING FOR THEIR LICENSE.
2. THE COUPLE MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.
3. THERE IS NO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT TO OBTAIN A CALIFORNIA LICENSE.
4. NO BLOOD TEST IS REQUIRED.
5. THERE IS NO WAITING PERIOD.
6. A VALID PHOTO ID IS REQUIRED.
7. THE ORIGINAL (OR COPY) OF DIVORCE PAPERS (OR DEATH CERTIFICATE IN THE EVENT OF DEATH OF A SPOUSE) MUST BE PRESENTED AT THE TIME YOU APPLY FOR YOUR LICENSE IF YOUR PREVIOUS MARRIAGE ENDED WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS.
Additional requirements for a confidential license are:
1. The couple must be living together already to obtain a confidential license.
2. The wedding ceremony must take place in the county that issued the license (a public license can be used anywhere within California).
3. Only the bride and groom have access to their marriage records at the county.
