It's common for couples to want to make their wedding ceremony even more special by having it on a Holiday.  And although Christmas and New Year's  are popular days to get engaged... weddings are too.  Of course, there is Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Labor Day, etc. All good times for weddings... not just because they lend a special happiness to your ceremony, but also because your family members can often get away a lot easier to attend your wedding... especially if they have to travel from afar.  So, consider a special holiday for your ceremony... it will make your anniversary a lot easier to remember as well.
When planning your holiday wedding you might want to consider the following:

If you have guests coming in from out of town, help them to find the lodging that best fits their needs and budget.

Clue your out-of-town wedding guests in to some of the local attractions around town while they visit.

Have a nice family dinner planned where everyone can catch up on all that's happened before your wedding.

Consider having a theme wedding that reflects the holiday.

Consider any heavy holiday traffic when planning your wedding and make sure everyone knows to take extra time getting to the ceremony.
